Ready to join the Garage Sale Trail? Use these tips to take your sale from oh to oh-em-gee.


IT'S ALL IN THE NAME

Be funny, smart and snappy to cut through the clutter and grab shoppers attention. As the song says "Express yourself!" We really like a few of these examples.


TELL PEOPLE WHAT YOU'RE SELLING

If you’ve got it, flaunt it. Focus on your spesh stuff. Identify the 3 - 5 best items you’re selling, mention them when you advertise your sale and post an item a week on your socials to lure in the hungry shoppers.


ADD PICS OF YOU AND YOUR STUFF

People remember pictures six times better than words, so make your advertising memorable and add some snaps. Put pics of your stuff up, put pics of yourself up, and on the day put pics of your sale up. Think of it like a dating app but for garage sales.


TELL YOUR ‘HOOD

Download the ready-made letterbox slips (available when you register) and tap into your neighbourhood by joining Nextdoor, the free app where your neighbours are already chatting, organising and sharing. By downloading the App or heading to nextdoor.com.au you'll be able to promote your sale to those in your ‘hood and get your neighbours involved. 


ADD SOME EXTRA YOU

You’re one in a million trillion, so reflect yourself in your sale promotions. Green thumbed? Offer gardening tips with every purchase. Love Dolly Parton? Get your best country outfit on and get ‘em down to your Dollywood sale.


SING IT FROM THE SOCIALS

No one got rich being a wallflower. Use the handy tiles and Instagram stickers we’ve created to help you share your sale on Facebook, Instagram and Nextdoor and be sure to use #garagesaletrail so we can promote your sale too.


TELL PEOPLE WHAT YOU’RE DOING WITH THE $$

People like to know where their money’s going - whether it’s being passed on to charity or just so you can enjoy a smashed avo in the fanciest of cafes.
