One big weekend of free online masterclasses dedicated to helping you learn how to re-home, re-love and re-purpose your stuff.

In 2021, you didn't even need to have a garage sale to get involved in Australia's festival of pre-loved stuff.

The Trail Tutorials brought together a cast of fashion, finance and sustainability experts over two big days of free online workshops on 6-7 November.

Speakers included:

12.00pm AEDT DIY your wardrobe with Daisy Braid aka DIY Daisy

This 40 minute session will have you stitching up a dream with tips on how to repurpose fabric scraps and turn old clothes new again. You can even craft-along as Daisy shows us how to create cute as a button bunting using secondhand fabrics.

Daisy Braid is a sewing blogger and maker from the Gold Coast who shares free sewing patterns and tutorials on her blog to encourage and inspire makers of all levels to DIY their dream wardrobe.

2.00pm AEDT How to flip furniture for fun and profit

This 40-minute session is perfect for beginners. You’ll learn how to source cheap items on a shoe-string budget, where to sell your creations, and how to develop your own style and skills. 

Whether it's to update items for your own space, a desire to repurpose items and save the planet, or to get yourself a side hustle where you can earn serious money, Kelly Armati from Shiner Creative Workshops will inspire you to get started and give it a go.

4.30pm AEDT Smart women choose sustainable fashion

Join host Dr Rebecca Huntley (ABN RN's The History Listen) for a 60 minute panel session featuring an awe inspiring line up of seriously smart and eco-stylish women as they chat all things fashion, sustainability and secondhand.

Joining the line up are five-time Aria award winning entertainer and Aussie music icon Ella Hooper (Killing Heidi), fashion designer and founder of KitX Kit Willow, 1 Million Women founder Natalie Isaacs and sustainable fashion educator & eco stylist Nina Gbor, Eco Styles.


12.00pm AEDT Make reselling your side hustle

Whether you’re an aspiring flipper or want to supplement your income selling online, this session will be chock full of tips and tricks for turning a profit from your pre-loved stuff.

This 60 minute session will see Molly Benjamin, founder of Ladies Finance Club Australia + UK be joined by Danielle Goodwin founder of Australia’s top luxury vintage store Hawkeye Vintage and Adelaide based flipper, Kirra Thomas aka The Reselling Enthusiast

2.00pm AEDT How to host and style your garage sale

This 40 minute session will feature expert tips from Gabby Nuich of The Picker Concept, stylist Adam Powell and PayPal's Jess Rix. Adam, Gabby and Jess will talk you through all the must haves for a sell out sale from how to promote your sale to pricing, merchandising and staying Covid-safe.

4.30pm AEDT How to host a virtual garage sale

Find out how to host a virtual garage sale on the Trail with live streaming guru Danielle Goodwin from Hawkeye Vintage, Instagram whiz Nicola Bates aka Zaza Vintage Store and PayPal's Jess Rix.

This practical 40 minute session will guide you through the essentials of social selling and get you prepped to sell up a storm on the virtual Garage Sale Trail with insider tips on what and how to sell through your social media channels.

This project is a NSW EPA Waste Less Recycle More initiative funded from the waste levy.
