TOGETHER ON ONE BIG DAY WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Australia, our waste is growing six times faster than our population. Eeek! Buying and selling at a garage sale is a great way to reduce and think differently about waste. One garage sale on its own doesn’t make much of a difference, but when the whole country gets on board good stuff translates into big outcomes. If you put all the stuff sold on the Garage Sale Trail last year in to shopping trollies they would stretch over 100km’s. By working hand-in-hand with councils and the good people around Australia, Garage Sale Trail has grown rapidly to become the largest sustainability and community event in the country. Together we make a difference, get involved in Australia’s big day of GOOD STUFF on Saturday 22 October.

TALK TO YOUR NEIGHBOUR, LIVE A LITTLE MORE.
Human beings are not meant to live just with stuff. In fact, people with stronger social relationships are more likely to live longer, yet only half of all Australians would recognize their neighbour in the street. A review of 148 medical studies found that “the influence of social relationships on the risk of death are comparable with well-established risk factors for mortality such as smoking and alcohol consumption and exceed the influence of other risk factors such as physical inactivity and obesity.” So getting to know your neighbours is better than going for a run and up there with quitting cigarettes! Woh. Garage Sale Trail is one way for people to come together, last year 63% of people who joined in felt more connected to their local community after the event. Anyone, any age, anywhere can take part on the day shopping or selling. Get involved Saturday 22 October, strike up a conversation and you might just live a little more – ‘How much for the chicken?’
