Planet-friendly decluttering ready for Garage Sale Trail

We caught up with decluttering Trail Blazer Tanya Lewis, the Eco Organiser herself, to get her top tips on how to ensure your preparations for Garage Sale Trail are kind to you and the planet.

Her four-step guide is designed to help you identify the things clutter your life that can be sold, donated or responsibly disposed of, and hold on to the treasures in your home.

Step 1. Identify your clutter

Clutter are the things that don’t add value to your life. These are items that are no longer relevant and stop you from living the life you want.

Write down 4 things you consider clutter.

What is my clutter?

Step 2. Identify your treasures

Decluttering removes obsolete items and allows space for the things you love and treasure to shine through.

Step 3. Ethically declutter

  • Get equipped with boxes, labelled “stay”, ”sell /donate” and return” and a garbage bin or bags
  • Start small, with a drawer or shelf, until you feel confident enough to tackle a bigger area
  • Sort items, placing them into the relevant boxes or worst case, a garbage bag
  • Only put back what you want to stay
