So you want to get involved and host a virtual garage sale this year, but you’re not so keen on social media? No worries, we hear you!

Instead, you can use the Garage Sale Trail website to drive interest aka website traffic to an online marketplace or other website where you already list and sell pre-loved stuff. Simply set up a virtual garage sale, add a link to your online store and hey presto.

If you’re not already selling online, a selection of our fave secondhand platforms you could link to are included below👇

Well known in the US and Canada where it’s the biggest online marketplace for pre-loved fashion, Poshmark launched in Australia earlier this year and is gaining an increasing amount of interest. It’s a great option for pre-loved fashion and vintage pieces. Watch this video from one of our fave flippers, 2 Aussie Thrifters, where they explain exactly how to list an item on Poshmark.

Best for clothing and accessories, but can be used for small homewares, books and beauty products, too. It’s traditionally a platform for the next gen (aka the young ‘uns) but what the heck, age is just a number right? If you’re not already on Depop, read this article for an easy step-by-step guide on how to set up an account and get selling.

The original home of peer to peer selling, eBay is particularly good for collectable items, books and good quality clothing. Check out the eBay website for everything you need to know about getting started.

Facebook Marketplace

Whilst yes, technically Facebook is a part of social media, Facebook marketplace is like a world of its own where you can reach people without having to share any personal stuff. You can list anything, so if you have a lot of odds and ends from clothing to crochet this is a great platform for you to use. People message you directly to purchase, so there are no fees for you as a seller. Find out more about how to list items on Facebook marketplace.

To get your unique marketplace link to share with everyone on your Garage Sale Trail sale page, simply go to Marketplace, select the person avatar at the top right corner, select commerce profile, click share, click more options and then press copy. Then all you have to do is go into your sale page and paste the link 🤗
